Bowers Family Christmas Letter 2009
Merry Christmas from the Bowers Family empty nest where 2009 has brought a lot of change.
Engaged - After dating since the 8th grade, Paul and Kate are now engaged to be married on July 31, 2010. They will finish up their senior years at the University of South Carolina in Journalism and Nursing together. We love the adults that they have become and their hearts for people. Paul had the honor of travelling with Nicholas Kristof of the NY Times this summer to the Ivory Coast of Africa, blogging and recording video documenting the horrors of medical conditions in that region of the world.
Moved - After living with us for the past 3 years (after suffering a stroke in 2006), David’s Mom has moved down to Lawtey, Florida to live with Sally and her family. She is adjusting well and especially enjoys having young great-grandchildren around.
Playing – In his second year at Clemson, Brian is having a blast playing in the marching band, the basketball pep band, intramural sports and school. He is also dating a terrific young lady named Kate. After toying with the idea of Engineering, Brian has decided to major in Math and hopes to teach at the university level.
Travel – To celebrate their 25th anniversary, David and Renee traveled across Europe, stopping in London, Brugge (Belgium), Paris, Frankfurt, Prague, Salzburg, and Budapest in 3 weeks. With an empty nest, we have also traveled up and down the highway to Clemson football games and to Columbia for fun things like wedding dress shopping. We host a small group in our home and David still enjoys teaching an adult Sunday School class.
Yes – That really does spell EMPTY. Like many empty nesters, we keep up with many friends through Facebook, but we love visitors and have lots of empty bedrooms, so come see us if you can.
We pray that you all are having a Merry Christmas!
